Job Description

  POSITION Title:  Program Coordinator  

  Reporting: Executive Director  

  Location:  Pokhara

Summary: The Project Director is responsible for overall management of the project including liaising with the donor; coordinating and leading partners; supervising members of the project team; and overseeing project implementation, financial and administrative oversight, reporting, and monitoring and evaluation of the project.  

   Major Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Program Planning and Implementation
  • Assist to design the project activities and Cooperation Agreement ( CA)
  • Implement the programs and activities according to the agreement
  • Perform the key role for implementing overall project according the norms, spirit and principle of the projects,
  • Organize trainings and workshops for staff members, board members for policy formation and sensitization
  • Communicate with funding partners, government officials, and related beneficiaries representing the organization,
  • Carry out meeting and discourse with board members about the project status, on going projects and possible new projects
  • Design new projects, search new EOI ,
  • Coordinate with line agencies, approve the project activities from related Palikas,
  • Represent on different forums, district networks and get updated
  • Conduct project management committee meetings, share quarter reports, address the issues and feedbacks
  • Conduct appraisal of project staff, assist them to effective implementation of project, ensure delivery mechanism
  1. Coordination
  • Attend the meeting as and when called by the authorities, executive committee and project management committee
  • Coordinate and communicate with funding partners, visit project sites, monitor project activities,
  • Coordinate with all project implemented by organization, attend project wise staff meetings, annual review meeting etc..
  • Represent GONESA in all platforms

      C.Quality Improvement

  • Observe the assigned projects activities of the project;
  • Monitor and analyze the implementation of activities according to CA ;
  • Manage the school based activities appropriately in the accessible place for the sponsored children;
  • Update the progress , collect data and compare with baseline
  1. Monitoring and Reporting
  • Update and prepare project progress reports in coordination with project coordinators,
  • Organize stakeholders monitoring at district level,
  • Participate with external reviewer and social welfare council for impact monitoring, new project approval etc..
  • Track the project progress, update the situation with relevant stakeholders,
  • Prepare quarterly progress report for project management committee, executive committee and funding agencies as per need

    Qualification and Desired Skills  

  • Master ’s degree in development with 2 years of experience / Bachelor degree with at least 5 years’ experience in development sectors.
  • Have sound knowledge on development sector of Nepal,
  • Hands on experience in project planning, implementation and reporting;
  • Good communication skills and fluent in English and Nepali languages;
  • Have good knowledge of project management
  • Proficient in using computer program; MS word, spreadsheets, power point, email and internet.
  • Experience managing, designing, implementing, and evaluating multi-donor , multidistrict,
  • Technical  expertise and/or program management skills in  children, education, community development ,
  • Demonstrated diplomatic, management, and communication skills to liaise and advocate with governments, donors, thought leaders, and other key stakeholders including other implementing agencies.
  • Proven ability to write technical reports and program documents, and deliver presentations.

 

 

Position Summary

Livelihood/MEAL Officer

Gross Salary Per annum: as per project norms

Scope of Job

Livelihood/MEAL Officer acts as focal person to implement livelihood enhancement activities of the project. S/he is fully responsible for planning of livelihood based activities and associated logistics, mobilization of agriculture and veterinary social mobilizers for efficient implementation of activities, maintaining the livelihood database and developing the report. S/he is also tasked with monitoring and evaluation of project activities, develop and maintain MNE Tracker and report to Project Coordinator.  The Livelihood Offcer   will work under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator or Focal person of the Implementing Partner.

 Major Duties and Responsibilities:

 Program Planning and Implementation

  • Carryout need assessment, identify livelihood opportunities and incorporate those activities in  Plan of Action (POA);
  • Develop business service packages for livelihood improvement and micro enterprise development to deliver to potential agro based Micro Entrepreneurs;
  • Support farmers, to prepare business plan of MEs and review it;
  • Prepare livelihood improvement plan of ultra-poor community members;
  • Assist field staff to explore business opportunities and make orientation to community to select potential enterprises;
  • Explore and plan for social enterprises at community level;
  • Mobilize social mobilizers for efficient implementation of activities at field level;
  1. Capacity Building/Training and Development
  • Capacitate the social mobilizers in effective implementation of on-site activities.
  • Carryout capacity development training for farmers groups on-site and online.
  • Support groups and provide remedy for their agriculture problem; like selection of appropriate species, soil and high value species
  • Help member of groups to construct nursery, tunnel/ plastic house, business plan ;
  • Plan and implement workshops on agriculture services, soil health camp, soil test camp, and others contemporary issue for the member agriculture groups ;
  • Conduct entrepreneurship development training to the potential entrepreneurs;
  • Organize technical skill training and assist them to have access to financial services, appropriate technology and marketing linkage;
  • Provide regular counseling to the farmers groups, support to start up and scale up agriculture enterprise;
  1. Coordination
  • Develop and strengthen coordination and networks with Agriculture Department of Rupa Rural Municipality, Agriculture Knowledge Center of Kaski, Micro Finance Institutions (MFIs), Krishi Sanjal, Krishi Sewa Kendra, I/NGOs, civil societies, political parties, private sectors and other stakeholders to create and develop effective agriculture enterprises in the working areas;
  • Develop linkage with Business Development Service (BDS) Providers and market actors for the marketing of products of micro entrepreneurs;
  • Liaise with local government, elected members, individuals and representatives of government for effective implementation of project activities.
  • Develop effective mechanism to coordinate and mobilize social mobilizers
  1. Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Carryout frequent monitoring visit to project implementation sites, evaluate achievement versus target and share monitoring report;
  • Plan, implement, monitor and evaluate the overall project activities including child empowerment, school infrastructures and livelihood improvement programs (Tunnel farming, Moring, High Value crops, lease land production,  poultry farming,  seasonable and off-seasonable vegetable production, et) in the targeted communities.
  1. Reporting, and Documentation
  • Prepare reporting formats, agreement, and training report
  • Prepare and submit the monthly progress, quarterly and half yearly progress report;
  • Keep record of production and sales data of the individual entrepreneur(s);
  • Update Business Plan of the entrepreneurs periodically (Annually) or as per need;
  • Assist to prepare presentation, documentation to PC
  1. Other Duties
  • Undertake duties assigned by supervisor.

 Qualification and Desired Expertise

Education

Bachelors in BVHSc / Agriculture or any other relevant subjects.

Expertise

  • Minimum two years of work experience in the field of agriculture development, micro enterprise development, livelihood improvement, business plan preparation, and cooperative management.
  • Strong coordination and communication skills.
  • Proven experience in training facilitation
  • Ability to produce reports both in English and Nepali.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, email and internet.
  • Willingness to travel and stay at field to remote working areas.
  • Preference will be given to person holding valid two wheelers license.
