Social Audit Conducted by GONESA

GONESA Nepal conducts annual social audit which is a formal review of organization’s endeavors, procedures and code of conduct regarding social responsibilities and the Organization’s impact on society.

In the fiscal year 2079/80, a formal program was organized at Hotel Fishtail Inn, Pokhara among the multistakeholders on 18th Jestha 2080. The chief guest Mr. Liladhar Baral, Chairperson of District Coordination Committee, Kaski inaugurated the program by signing the banner.

Mr. Ram Chandra Baral ( Phd) has facilitated social audit of GONESA . As in independent auditor, Mr. Baral visited various project sites ( Pokhara and Rupa )  and interacted with beneficiaries, conducted focus group discussion with government line agencies, youth groups, farmers groups and observed project activities. On the base of research and field visit, Mr. Baral presented major findings in front of stakeholders and invited them for further discussion and clarification.

Mr. Shivraj Sharma, GONESA executive director presented briefly about organization history and current status. He explained that organization is currently providing services in Kaski district special focusing on children and education. Social auditor raised some important issues on education focusing on day meal program and drinking water facility in community schools which are not satisfactory, government has to focus more in child nutrition and education. More budget requires to enhance quality education and free education in community schools.

Hem Acharya, Pokhara Education Department, Sandip Paudel Rupa Education Department, Navraj Ojha Rupa Municipal Chairperson clarify on the raised issues and appreciated findings of social audit.  All invited government officials committed to increase their attention on the issues raised by the participants.

In the closing remarks, Chief guest Liladhar Baral appreciated GONESA contribution and committed to collaborate for social transformation. At the end of program, Mr Ram Prasad Subedi thanked all the stakeholders and accepted all suggestion and feedbacks.
